Middle Grades Cohort (SOE)
Project Leader: Leigh Hern
Assistant Professor, Mentor Leader
Early Childhood & Middle Grades Education
Facilitator: Charlie Martin

The Middle Grades Cohort is using iPods to explore essential questions by using existing audio content on the web and subscribing to podcasts: downloading individual selections related to their exploration of essential questions. Taking advantage of iTalk recording technology they are also using iPods to record interviews and collect other data during their fields placements to share with other cohort members in class and via podcasts.

The Middle Grades Cohort also sponsors events that produce audio content that can be shared via podcasts.  An example of this is the Georgia Middle Grades Summit held on campus in October 2005.  At the opening session, talks by two of the founders of the middle grades movement were recorded and are available via podcast.
