Summer 2006 in Thessaloniki, Greece, photo iPods were used in two courses: Humanities I and Travel Writing. Both classes had identical pre-loaded playlists and photo galleries. The music selections represented the full range of the music of the humanities course, from ancient Greek to Renaissance, plus samples of music characteristics of the region: modern Greek and Turkish, Sufi, other Middle Eastern styles, etc. The playlist also included 16 Greek language lessons. The photo gallery on each iPod contained 700 photos that featured the archeological sites visited, important works of art from museums, representations of figures from Greek mythology and history, and much more. The music and photo files ere integrated into the curriculum for the Humanities course; these files mainly enhanced the travel experience for the students enrolled in Travel Writing.
