Occasionally, special needs pop up when we least expect
them, and we look for innovative yet cost-effective ways to
solve these problems. iPods frequently save the day!
Take Sandra Godwin's Sociology class for instance. Godwin's
students had an opportunity to interview local school
children for a class project. Some had tape recorders, but
most didn't. She put out a call for loaner tape recorders
and DTS (the Division of Technology Solutions) responded.
We borrowed some iTalk microphones from another project,
and outfitted with 5 iPods and iTalk microphones, Godwin's
students conducted their interviews in 3 days. The
interviews were uploaded to our podcast server where the
interviewers could download them to their iTunes library
for transcribing, listening and sharing!
